Introduction to Dermapen Microneedling
Aging leads to a decline in collagen and elastin production, causing fine lines, wrinkles, and loss of skin firmness. Dermapen is an advanced microneedling treatment designed to stimulate collagen renewal, enhance skin texture, and restore youthful skin. By creating controlled micro-injuries, Dermapen activates the skin’s natural healing response, improving elasticity and reducing signs of aging without the need for surgery or harsh chemical treatments.
Dermapen microneedling for anti-aging uses an automated device to create thousands of controlled micro-channels in the facial dermis, triggering a collagen induction therapy response that thickens the skin, smooths fine lines, and restores firmness lost to age-related collagen decline. The device's motorised needle cartridge operates at depths up to 2.5 millimetres with vertical stamping action — penetrating deeper and more precisely than manual rollers while causing less epidermal disruption.

How Dermapen Microneedling Works
Dermapen uses ultra-fine needles to create micro-channels in the skin, which:
Facial aging is not uniform — different zones age at different rates and require different treatment depths. The periorbital area has the thinnest facial skin and shows fine lines earliest, needing shallow Dermapen depths of 0.5 to 1.0 millimetre. Cheeks and jawline benefit from 1.5 to 2.0 millimetre depths to address deeper collagen loss and mild laxity.

Reversing Signs of Aging with Dermapen
Each Dermapen anti-aging session at Claire Derma follows a precise protocol designed for both safety and efficacy. After cleansing, topical anaesthetic cream is applied for 30 minutes. Our dermatologist selects a 16- or 36-needle cartridge based on the treatment goals — finer cartridges for periorbital work, broader ones for full-face coverage.

Benefits of Dermapen Microneedling for Anti-Aging
Dermapen microneedling for anti-aging occupies a unique position between gentle topical treatments and aggressive resurfacing procedures. It produces stronger collagen stimulation than chemical peels or manual microneedling, yet carries a fraction of the downtime and risk associated with fractional CO2 laser.

Ideal Candidates for the Treatment
This treatment is ideal for individuals who:
Recovery from a Dermapen anti-aging session is quick and predictable. Expect facial redness and a warm, tight sensation for 12 to 24 hours — similar to a mild sunburn. Mild swelling, particularly around the eyes and cheeks, is normal on the first day and resolves by day two.
The Treatment Process
01
Consultation & Skin Analysis
A dermatologist evaluates your skin’s aging concerns. Your dermatologist evaluates your facial aging patterns zone by zone — fine lines, skin laxity, pore size, and texture. We photograph under standardised lighting, discuss your goals and any previous cosmetic treatments, and plan a Dermapen course of three to five sessions with zone-specific depth.
02
Preparation
The skin is cleansed, and a numbing cream is applied for comfort. The face is cleansed thoroughly and topical anaesthetic cream is applied for 30 minutes. Our dermatologist selects the needle cartridge configuration and calibrates initial depth settings.
03
Dermapen Microneedling
The Dermapen device is applied across the face and neck. The Dermapen is passed across the face in systematic overlapping strokes, with depth adjusted for each zone — shallower around the eyes, deeper on cheeks and jawline. Anti-aging serum is applied continuously as a glide medium. Pinpoint bleeding confirms adequate dermal penetration.
04
Post-Treatment Care
Sun protection and hydration serums are recommended. Redness fades within 24 to 48 hours and mild swelling subsides by day two. Avoid makeup for 12 hours, active ingredients for 48 hours, and direct sun for one week. Apply the provided post-treatment serum and barrier cream.
Expected Results & Recovery
Visible improvements in texture and tightness appear within a few weeks.
Gradual collagen renewal over 3–6 months.
Mild redness for 1–2 days, with most people resuming activities quickly.
With maintenance treatments, skin continues to improve over time.

Typically, 4–6 sessions, spaced 4 weeks apart, yield the best results.
It softens fine lines and tightens skin, but deep wrinkles may require combination treatments.
A numbing cream minimizes discomfort, making it tolerable for most people.
Avoid direct sun exposure and use a hydrating serum to support skin healing.
With proper skincare and occasional maintenance, results can last for years.
Both stimulate collagen through controlled skin injury, but they work differently. Fractional lasers use heat to vaporise tiny columns of tissue, producing strong collagen remodelling but with five to ten days of significant downtime, redness, and swelling — plus pigmentation risk for darker skin tones.
Most patients at Claire Derma see noticeable improvement in skin texture and fine lines after three sessions, with optimal results after four to five sessions spaced four to six weeks apart. The number depends on your starting condition and goals — early fine lines may need only three sessions, while more advanced aging with laxity and deep lines benefits from the full five-session course.
Wait 48 hours before applying retinoids, vitamin C, AHAs, or BHAs to microneedled skin. The micro-channels close within 24 to 48 hours, and applying potent actives before they seal can cause irritation, stinging, and inflammation that delays healing. After that 48-hour window, you can resume your normal routine.
There is no strict age limit. At Claire Derma, we treat patients from their early thirties who are starting preventive collagen maintenance through to their sixties who want to improve established lines and laxity.
